Fashion Aware Club. The Store. & The Show

Let the show begin.

The Fashion Aware Club creates experiences – for consumers, brands and the fashion of tomorrow.
You can discover, try on and buy high-quality, sustainable fashion in our pop-up store in the heart of Düsseldorf’s city center. Exciting brands showcase their best pieces here – from timeless essentials to individual statement pieces.
A special highlight: The show.
Each of these looks is captured backstage with a Polaroid and then displayed on a large inspiration wall in the store – as a trend and styling impulse for a more conscious closet.

Repair Station: Consultancy with Repair Rebels & live content

“Live survey: How sustainable is Düsseldorf?”

Together with Repair Rebels and the bruddhaTV team, we immersed ourselves in the exciting world of textile and fashion repairs. In our interactive format, we explored live how sustainable Düsseldorf really is: who repairs their own clothes, who has them repaired, and what role do professional repair experts play in the city?

There were many exciting conversations and interesting insights directly on site! There was as well a drop-off station where you could hand in your favourite items. There were also consultations on repair options. 💙💚

Upcycling Deluxe: The Japanese embroidery technique Saschiko with pialana

The motto of our Upcycling Deluxe workshop was: Don’t be afraid of needle and thread. We learnt about visible mending with embroidered geometric patterns.

The participants brought along their favourite textiles in need of repair. Stains, holes and areas that had become thin were embellished. This workshop was inspired by the traditional Japanese mending technique Sashiko. In this technique, areas of fabric that have become thin or holes are embroidered with a simple line pattern to strengthen them.

This technique is used to utilise leftovers, avoid waste, extend the life of textiles and create individual items of clothing.

Repair or alter garments

Become a designer yourself with slowsetter

The theme of the workshop was: Make your piece your favourite again – for the garments that could do with an update. There was the opportunity to repair, alter or upcycle garments into something completely new!

Walk-In Workshops on the subject of repair with SBYD – Folkwang Uni Essen

Patch-it! – Walk-In-Workshop for remodelling and repairing clothing

People could bring items of clothing to the walk-in workshop that they no longer wanted to wear because they no longer looked good or had stains or holes… We had numerous patches made from a wide variety of old textiles with us, which could be used to give the clothes a striking makeover or subtly repair them. We helped the participants to turn their unloved items of clothing into something they would love to wear again.

The workshop was organised by SPACE FOR SUSTAINABILITY BY DESIGN – an innovative university project of the Folkwang University of the Arts, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Joint Science Conference.

DAINTY DYSTOPIA’s Botanical Dye Studio

In DAINTY DYSTOPIA’s Botanical Dye Workshop, participants learnt the basics of dyeing with botanical dyes: which fabrics can be dyed with natural dyes and how do the fabrics need to be pre-treated and stained? Various techniques were presented in the taster course and own samples were created with flowers and dyeing materials.
